Surbhi Tiwari Digital Payment Fraud: Recently digital payment fraud happened with actress Surbhi Tiwari. This fraud happened with him in Ayodhya. The actress has also filed a complaint against this. The actress has advised fans to avoid such frauds.
Talking to Times of India, the actress said, ‘I was having trouble finding a place to stay in Ayodhya. So a relative told me about a famous Dharamshala. After searching online, I found a link which mentioned about Dharamshala and also had contact details. I thought it was believable. I asked for a photo of Dharamshala on WhatsApp, so that I could book the room.
Fraud happened with Surabhi
‘I asked that person for his GPay number. Then I transferred Rs 2,500. He again asked for a security deposit of the same amount. When I asked for the registration number, he told me that there are technical issues so please make the payment in one go. That’s why I told him to return the money I transferred to you. I pay you Rs 5000 at a time. Then he made me talk to someone else. Who shared a barcode with me on WhatsApp.
Surabhi further said, ‘I felt something was wrong when he deleted the messages while talking to me. Luckily, I use GPay on my other phone and hence, he could not steal much money. Then later I came to know that the website was not of that Dharamshala. This was a scam.
This fraud happened with Surbhi on 29th February. He lodged a complaint at Versova police station on March 1.
Surbhi has also advised fans to be aware of such frauds. He said- ‘I hope that action will be taken against the fraudsters. I don’t want anyone else to fall into this trap. I want to advise everyone to confirm the authenticity of the website before making online payment. Do not scan barcode on WhatsApp otherwise they will loot all your money and your account will be empty. I finally had to seek help from a local friend. He had booked the hotel by paying in cash.
